Chicago Southsider Ezekiel “Zeke” Morris, past president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, has been installed as the 2022 President of Illinois REALTORS®. He was the owner and managing broker of EMA Realty and Management located on the South Side of Chicago.
According to CAR, Morris started his real estate career in 1989. He served as President of CAR from 2011-2013. His exceptional leadership and service landed him the 2013 local REALTOR® of the year award.
In 2017, Morris' dedication to the real estate profession and his $25,000+ lifetime commitment to RPAC earned him recognition in the National Association of REALTOR's RPAC Hall of Fame.
“I am a servant to more than 11,000 Chicago Realtors and hold them in the highest regard,” Morris told Chicago Agent Magazine. “We are all in this together, and can create win-win situations. If those you lead cannot see their own dreams or aspirations in yours, you will not be effective. They won’t regard you as a leader.”
Every quarter, CAR awards a Zeke Morris Scholarship to a college student or aspiring REALTOR who plans to take a prelicensing course for the Illinois real estate exam. Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or GED. If you want to apply, you can view the full list of requirements and deadlines here.
Morris has been actively involved in the real estate profession and community for decades. As an Illinois REALTOR, he has chaired several groups including the Housing Opportunity Working Group and the Public Policy and Government Affairs Member Involvement Group. He's also served on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors and has chaired NAR’s Fair Housing Act Anniversary Working Group and the Fair Housing Act Anniversary Implementation Group.
In 2018, NAR celebrated the 50th year anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Morris was at the forefront of the commemoration, spearheading initiatives that focused on advancing equity and justice in housing.
Now, Morris has the chance to set the foundation for a more equitable housing system as president of the Illinois REALTORS association.
"Next year, once the work is done, we will be able to sit down for a second, smile, and know that God is pleased with his Servant Leader," Lemons-Ryhal posted on Facebook.
The installation of the 2022 Illinois REALTORS® Officers & Board of Directors took place during the Fall Business Meeting at the Chicago Marriott Naperville on October 12.
